These paintings were for an article that told of the health benefits

that come from taking vacations.

Man Enough to Care

Hint Mint

A select group of artists were invited by the the Hint Mint company

to create works for the Art in Awareness "Man Enough to Care"

campaign to raise awareness (and money) for breast cancer

research. The original art will be auctioned off with proceeds going

to the Los Angeles chapter of Avon Walk for the Cure.

This was for a humorous article where the author

complained about the trend to "go green" put a cramp in

his lifestyle - starting with not using those heat sleeves

you put on coffee cups.

Cover art for Rent-to-Own HQ / The Magazine. The issue's

theme was the value of employees. The art director for this

trade publication gave me one of my first jobs about 20

years ago. It's always been a pleasure to work with him.

Odds and Ends

Some good news from the world of design and

illustrations competitions. The typewriter piece I

did for the Indiana University Alumni Association

won a merit award from University and College

Designers Association. And the seasonal beer image

I did for Boulevard Brewing Company was selected

into Creative Quarterly 13.

A Feast for the Eyes

Blue Plate Dinners Art Exhibition

I contacted artists near and far to be part of

an art show with the theme of food. The show

was at Blue Plate Dinners, a local meal assembly store.

Since many of their meals come in freezer bags, I asked

that everyones work be able to fit in a bag. All the work

was displayed in those bags.

Sourpuss Series

C'mon, who didn't jam citrus rinds in their mouths in an effort

to generate a laugh or two? These were my contributions to

the "A Feast for the Eyes" exhibition. It was conveyed to me

that watermelons are not sour, so calling it a "sourpuss" is

not accurate. I call that one "Contrarian".
